What can I link this to?

Main Concept

Link helps students make connections between current and prior learning

When integrated into the learning context, the Link strategy is a useful tool for helping students to create connections between current and prior learning and also within current learning.

Show students the Link icon. For example, to introduce the mathematical concept of coordinates and grids, students are encouraged to remember when they have used a map or electronic device to find locations. Through teacher direction and coaching, students are taught how to make a link with prior learning.

After presenting the first six strategies, ask students to recall the names of the Memory Mates and offer their own explanations.
